User Experience & Web Design

Creating a streamlined candidate experience is essential at Ecolab. One way the candidate experience is communicated is on the jobs.ecolab.com’s “Our Process” page. This process walks candidates through what they can expect throughout the application steps. In tandem with website landing pages created for significant hiring needs, I created an Our Process application prototype to align with the Our Process web page. The mobile application prototype communicates the hiring process with candidates and includes tips and engaging information throughout a candidate's job search while the landing pages create a tailored and engaging audience experience. Overall, both can prepare, assist, and keep audiences warm while they search for jobs.

User Experience: Our Process Application Prototype

Problem, User Perspective

While searching for a new role, candidates want to know what to expect throughout the application process. Employers need to keep candidates warm and engaged during the job search to remain competitive in the job market. The hiring process can be long and gray, but this application creates transparency while informing and coaching candidates along the way.

Biggest Challenges

💼 Competitive market

🖥️ Need for highly engaging content

👥 Broad range of audience personas

⚙️ Communicating a multi-step process, concisely

Process

I analyzed the Social, Economic, Technological and Cultural factors that apply to candidate experiences. One important statistic I found is that, “72% of candidates say the smoothness of an interview process would affect their final decision on whether or not to take the job. – Cronofy

Competitive Analysis

I analyzed other job search mobile applications, the challenges of the applications as well as the stand-out features. I found that the space for user profiles, suggested job functionality, and easy access were helpful user experiences. However, although there are a lot of convenient candidate features with other applications, the conversion push is aggressive and candidates could benefit from more information and tips to help them during a stressful time.

Interview Process

I consulted with two different groups: stakeholders and potential users. Both groups offered insights via interviews. Stakeholders were asked a series of questions which helped me better understand what is essential to build candidates’ knowledge about Ecolab’s hiring process and potential candidates helped me understand what information was important and engaging for them to learn about a company.

User Flows & Content Mapping

The simplifies user flow helps funnel candidates through a seamless, engaging, and informative experience.

The purpose of an “Our Process” mobile application, was to create a tool that level set candidate expectations and streamlined how Ecolab communicates the application process while coaching users along the way. The application shows users why Ecolab is a great place to work and improves the process for candidates and recruiters.

Below are some of the frame experiences. You can view the full prototype here.

Web Design: Landing Pages

For Ecolab Careers, I also operated a global content management system across multiple languages, working with stakeholders to define key content opportunities, create engaging copy and visuals, and unique pages for Ecolab’s key personas and prominent sub-companies. When creating these pages, I applied user experience best practices throughout jobs.ecolab.com. Below are examples of the desktop and mobile experiences of the landing pages for personas as well as a sub-company.
