Content Design
Application Overview
Party Animal is a mobile application designed to help plan and share special events. This application is a simple and customizable iOS solution for events without the clutter. The goal for this project was to design an experience and build a customer-facing platform that would put party planners’ minds at ease and empower hosts to unleash their inner “planimal”.
User Experience/Content Design/Visual Design/User Experience Strategy
Project Scope
Mapping, Persona Development, Demographic and Ethnographic Framework, User Feedback Surveys, Branding, Mobile Application Experience Design & creating a consumer-facing site.
Problem
Users need an application with attributes and efficiencies, including communication (messaging and alerts), entertainment (suggested themes, food menus), and of course planning (tasks, timelines, tips, event information, and requests).
Biggest Challenge
🎉 To integrate the steps throughout the party planning process to streamline planning and improve host efficiencies.
Competitive Analysis & Content Mapping
When developing the content map for the User Experience, it was important to combine special features and customizations for hosts and guests. Based on insights from a Competitors Analysis, the main considerations I needed to incorporate into features were:
Simplified options: Too many manual selections from apps created a stressful experience
Collaborative options, like Food/Drink, Tasks, Shared Expenses, etc., as part of planning an event is bringing others into the fold along the way!
Fun, engaging yet minimal design and overall experience. When you’re throwing a party, you don’t want the event dashboard to look like a spreadsheet
The Brand
After research and some strategic planning, I needed to create a brand and design system. I developed a name and designed a brand to be fun, engaging, and easy to follow during times of high party-planning stress. A bold color palette, logo, primal fonts, and icons were created that evolved as the app was developed.
User Experience, Hi-Fis
During my initial user research via survey, I found that participants agreed they are somewhat stressed when hosting a party and value task alerts, guest reminders, and guest collaboration features. Below are some of the Hi-Fi frames created to mitigate stress and engage party-goers while lightening the load for hosts.
Desktop View
Lastly, a homepage desktop view was created to offer an alternative interface and platform variety, depending upon the host and party-goers’ preferences.
